Annie Duke mightn’t have won her first WSOP Bracelet until 2004 but she is still one of the most powerful poker players at the ring games at The Bellagio in Las Vegas. Annie’s long-overdue WSOP bracelet came with a win at the "buried game" of Omaha hi lo.
While players from the "younger crowd" of poker go crazy after a big win at the tables, Annie heads back home and becomes "mom" to her four kids. Annie grew up in New Hampshire into a family of poker players. If you don’t accept that, check out her brother, Howard Lederer, in action who taught her how to gamble on the game.
However, Annie Duke is no small-potatoes girl and has won her share of challenging tables, including eliminating Howard a few times along the way. They are both competitors that have the capability to win the huge money and do so with a smile.
Mrs. Duke is a tough competitor at any table because she is a real poker player, but it’s a bit more than just being skilled at the game. Annie Duke is surprisingly smart and graduated from Columbia University where she took a double major in Psychology and English.
When you take a seat across from Annie at the poker table you know she is there to play the game and she starts "sizing" you up from the time you join the game table. If you can’t bet like a Champion, then do not waste your time.
Winning over three million dollars in tournament competitions, Annie became a consultant to both UltimateBet.com and actor Ben Affleck, who wanted to hone his abilities and develop into a power at the poker table.
You may see her at the Bellagio, you’ll observe her on television and you may even play against her in an on-line poker match, but do not expect an easy win. Unless you are a champion-in-the-making, you won’t beat her. Although, it’d be fun to say you sat at the at the table with "The Duke".
