Annie Duke mightn’t have captured her first World Series of Poker Bracelet until 2004 but Annie is one of the most powerful poker players around the ring matches at The Bellagio in Sin City. Annie’s long-overdue World Series of Poker win came with success at the "forgotten game" of Omaha Hi-Lo.
While players from the "younger generation" of poker run wild after a big win at the tables, Annie goes home to be "mom" to her four children. She hails from NH and grew up in a family of card players. If you don’t believe that, watch her sibling, Howard Lederer, in action, who taught her the correct way to compete in the game.
However, Annie Duke is no small fry kind of girl and has captured her cut of challenging matches, including knocking out Howard a few times on several occasions.
Earning well over three million dollars in tournament action, Annie branched out to become a consultant to both UltimateBet.com and actor Ben Affleck, who wanted to build up his skills to become a big player at the poker table.
You may catch her at the Bellagio, you’ll see her on television and you might even play against her in a web poker match, but do not expect an easy win. Unless you are a champion-in-the-making, you won’t beat her. although, it is likely to be fun to say you played at the same table as "The Duke".
