Gus Hansen enjoyed a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only one to make it to the last table in three of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history competing against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a large pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Gus has earned many televised poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the best bettors in the world. While betting on internet poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He regularly participates in the 200/400 NL maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Hansen usually buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very poorly. He waits for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I believe Hansen is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has no reason to settle at the game with the min buy-in.
Buying in for the minimum takes almost all of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Hansen is accepted to be one of the best players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy-in for the total amt.. I believe television can alter our view of the real world sometimes. The best poker players anywhere in the world could be guys you have will not have heard of before. Gus can be seen gambling on internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally plays in high stakes omaha eight-or-better and Holdem. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his talents in money rounds?
